How might we?:
connect with students who are not engaged and connected to adults in the building?
Describe the prototype(s) your school will focus on. Get creative. Be sure to describe the various approaches staff will take, what you will keep your eye on and how staff plan to document their results.
We set up a gallery walk of students in our building and used dots to identify students that staff had connections with in the building. We then looked for those students who had few to no dots next to their picture, and tried to determine what these "unconnected" students might have in common.
We learned that many students in our building had connections to multiple teachers. Those students who did not were students who were typically not involved in school outside of just showing up to class. We decided that each staff member would pick five students who were "unconnected" and try to make connections with those students.
