I am employing a final project in Social 20 that is worked on throughout the semester. Student engagement and participation is cultivated through the use of "checkpoints" - formative conversations that facilitate direct 1-to-1 support while completing the project. Students are able to choose their format and can even use a variety of formats to complete the project for example artistic creation, video, written report, physical maps/globes, multimedia presentations, etc. Student progress is also monitored through the checkpoint conversations. Exemplary projects will be saved as artifacts and exemplars for future classes.
